Hello! My boyfriend, Jesse, just recently bought a new piggy, named him Bambi. Jesse originally has 3 boars: the oldest is Cocoa, then comes Jorgi, and Cocoa’s son Niko. He tried introducing Bambi in a neutral area with the 3 boars, however also immediately Bambi and Cocoa started teeth chattering. We assumed it would just be a test of dominance until Bambi actually bit Cocoa in the nostril & now Cocoa is bleeding from his nose. We’re not sure if the injury is inside of the nose or just the nostril. We’ve already separated Bambi from the group. But now we’re not sure how to treat Cocoa’a injury. Is there anything we can do to treat it, something to apply on or should we just let it heal? I’m afraid it’s making hard to breathe, as he kept sneezing afterward.

Best thing would be go to a vet incase it gets infected, because guinea pigs are always forraging through hay and poo with their noses. You could in the meantime bathe it with cooled boiled water on an old flannel or somthing similar.

Ive just had a gerbil have a fight wound. I couldnt find a good vet open to treat him and he did heal on his own. But i chanced things, not the best idea really. Hes fine nowView attachment 104168

I'm afraid having groups of boars doesn't often work out. You are lucky that you have 3 that are happy together. With a bite in a sensitive area like the nose it is likely to bleed quite a bit even if it is only a small wound. He may have breathed in some blood. I would get him to the vet just to be sure.

I would get it checked over by a vet to get it cleaned etc....

Please don't attempt to re-bond to have 3 boars together is quite an achievement, four is really not going to happen as you have unfortunately found out - luckily no major damage done. Sending lots of healing vibes

I agree completely with @sport_billy. I'd pop him along to the vet @Tinychels to get his nose checked. I've had a pig with a bit wound on his nose and it's hard to monitor and clean so it's best to be on the safe side and get it cleaned by a vet and possibly get some antibiotics.

Usually when they fight so viciously like that on their first attempt at a bond then it's never going to work. I've had a few boys like that.
