Hi,

we've noticed something weird with our now solo guinea pig Big E, I never thought about it before until yesterday, I then thought there was something wrong but when you put him in his cage he doesn't do it.

So what he's doing is when we get him out of his cage and he's pooping he starts moaning, almost like a dog whining, however as I said above, when he's in his cage he doesn't do it. Could it be that he doesn't like going to the toilet out of his cage? He's eating, drinking, weight is fine, fur fine, bottom/penis fine, he's always been whiney when we've taken him out of his cage but hmmm... lol... I have some weird guinea pigs! I'm actually considering booking in him in with the vets to make sure he's ok lol.

Please check his bits for sperm rods etc. and keep an eye on a potential UTI developing. The stress of a bereavement can lower the immune system and make piggies more prone to be hit by one of the opportunistic illnesses or by an underlying problem coming to the fore. You are a very observant piggy mum, so you are likely to catch anything very early on if something is actually brewing. All you can do right now is keep an eye on things and see whether more develops.
