Hi, I currently have two male guinea pigs living side by side in separate hutches, as one is fear aggressive and failed to bond with multiple pigs.
Scared piggy is very happy in his single home (with the interaction through bars), but other piggy is a bit different.
He was bought as a baby to hopefully lessen the fear in older pig, but it just didn’t work. He craves attention but doesn’t get it from older pig. He’s also becoming increasingly picky with his food from the lack of competition and it’s making it harder for me to ensure he has a fulfilled diet.
Now my question is, are either of the two hutches I own “better” for two pigs. I have the bluebell 5ft (top floor removed) and i have the 5ft chart well.
In the bluebell, the sleeping divider is not a thing, which I wondered if it made it better for two piggies to navigate. I just feel the sleep divider in the chart well makes it so much more cramped than it needs to be.
They’re both basically the same size, although the chart well is like 1-2 cm deeper.
I understand both are the minimum, but it’s just unfortunate i couldn’t fit anything bigger side by side in my garage.
Thanks!
