Hey guys,
I have a 3 year old male Guinea pig who just finished meds for an upper respiratory infection and they worked very well and he recovered fine. However shortly after he began to leave a light pinkish discharge and pee, it looks like it might be some blood in his pee. He also wimpers when he poops. He’s his normal self otherwise, roaming the cage, eating and drinking just fine. He spent the day at the vet yesterday for further testing and the vet found nothing but maybe a UTI and gave him pain meds and antibiotics to treat the infection. Is this just the infection or is there something more serious that I might not be seeing? Thanks!

Hi and welcome

Hopefully it is just a UTI (i.e. a bacterial urine infection caused by faecal bacteria getting into the urinary tract when scent marking).

If the antibiotic doesn't clear it or symptoms recur, then you may be dealing with a sterile interstitial cystitis (a non-bacterial infection that mainly affects the natural glucosamine coating of the walls of the urinary tract that rpevents highly corrosive urine from coming into contact with raw tissue).
In order to get a sterile IC diagnosis, a potential bladder stone needs to be excluded. Symptoms for all problems with the urinary tract are very similar. If your vet has felt a soft bladder, then a stone can already be excluded.
It is basically a matter of working your way down the ladder.

All the best! I am sorry that it is one thing after another for you. At least the symptoms seem to be on the mild side and will hopefully settle down within a few days.
