it doesn’t smell like blood, more like pee but I just wanted to know what this could be. There’s brown spots everywhere.

Hello. Is your piggy displaying any other signs of a UTI? Like squeaking when peeing or pooping? It doesn’t look like blood to me. But if you are worried and there are other symptoms then please get them checked by a vet.

Nope. None of that! They’re eating and peeing normally, but I needed to be sure. Think I’ll take them to the vet just in case

Blood is rather distinctive and this doesn’t look like blood.
Do see a vet if you are concerned.

My piggy recently passed blood. Here is what it looked like.

Update:

So, this was taken today. I’ve been closely monitoring my 2 Guineas and found one which one was peeing this way. I’ve made an appt already with the vet. But, should this be something I need to be concerned about? There seems to be a ring around the pee.

Also want to note: he’s drinking and eating normally, and being his usual self. So idk if he’s in pain or not? He doesn’t make any noises that would indicate so. But I know they’re good at hiding their pain :( I’ve also cut off veggies for the time being just in case that was the problem here and feeding probiotics since his poo is a bit on the softer side. Am I missing anything else? Or should I change something I doing?

ALSO: He started peeing this way a couple days ago when I started giving them a VERY thin slice of cucumber at night, like VERY THIN. since they get their 1 cup earlier in the day I didn’t want to overdo it with the cucumber (But they beg so much :( couldn’t help give them something before sleep )Which I’ve stopped doing now, though. But that’s the only thing that’s been different

Check for other symptoms like lethargy or squeaking when peeing, these are also symptoms of a UTI in Guinea pigs. Also make sure that they have enough water and get fresh veggies every day.

It could simply be how it has dried but it’s always worth having a vet check done.
Is it actually coming out that colour or is it changing to that colour over timeL

I don’t think it is a reason to stop veggies though. You’d normally only stop veggies if you were seeing soft poops.

I checked his butt, and it was brownish colored. Most likely from the pee? I cleaned him up afterwards. I read that pee sometimes oxidizes as soon as it hits air? Ugh idk :/ I did make an appt with the vet, so hopefully its nothing.

And thank you for that! I’ll resume with veggies tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anything would change if I took it out but not as of yet. I’ve been checking the fabric they’re using for blood, but nothing. Really grateful for that. He’s literally his normal and mischievous self, so the pee thing is just throwing me off lol

Yes, urine turns a rusty brown colour when it comes into contact with the air.
Youre doing the right thing by seeing a vet.

Good luck at the vets. Have you got a white sheet he could sit on until he pees. Then you’ll know what colour it comes out.

Update:

Hi all! Thank you everyone for your responses! Truly appreciated:) so, the verdict on the urinalysis: no blood, good concentration, nothing out of the ordinary. He still has a brownish colored pee, but apparently there isn’t anything to worry about!
