Hello everyone,

I came home from work to clean out my boy’s cage and noticed these spots in their usual corner of business.

At first I though normal oxidation. However, I wanted to get the communities input on the matter. My boys were just at the vet last Thursday and the vet did not see any bloody urine while in her care.

Could these spots occur from uring mixing with feces? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Boys are both eating, playing, and drinking. I do not hear any pain or discomfort while using the potty.

Thank you for your help!967D1FEB-EA1C-45BB-81E1-9FA9896E88AC.webp3A68CCA6-355F-45B7-BF13-557FFCF04856.webpA33166CC-349F-463B-B353-8F223F5ECF6C.webp

Hi, personally to me they look like oxidisation however if you're worried you could change over to a while fleece or puppy pads and if it looks more orange then it probably is oxidisation but if you're still not happy you could call a vet back up...if they're not in pain as well you could just keep an eye on them...maybe something they ate made it a funny colour?

If you have any concerns, you can pop your piggies individually into a pet carrier or other safe container lined with a puppy pad until they urinate. That way you can see immediately if their pee is discoloured.

Beetroot can cause pinky pee the day after it is fed.

It's always worth a vet check if you have any worries. They would rather see a well piggy than one that has had symptoms that have been ignored.

Thank you both! The color has faded after drying. I think those spots were right after a wee.
I am closely monitoring them just to be safe. After looking on the forum at other threads/pictures I think this is oxidation.

Sorry for the thread. I just was worried about my boys.

Its ok...you're allowed to worry about your animals...they become family...so being worried about them is part of the package...

One of our boys went through a few month period where his pee was oxidizing like mad. It’s so frightening! These look like normal oxidation to me, but I’d recommend switching over temporarily to a lighter fleece or some white carefresh so that you can better monitor it!

Thank you. Yes, I will see if I can source some lighter fleece to help monitor their urine output better.

They both were staring at me while I was pacing last night.

Probably saying when will this nut sit down and play fortnite and let us alone. 😵‍💫
