I found blood on my guinea pigs fleece in their cage. I seperated them all and put them on white towels and I think it's my teddy bear pig Mochi. She seemed a little lethargic, no wounds that I could see but there was some blood on her towel. She seemed a little more lethargic, but ran around popcorning and jumping on top of the houses when I put her back in the clean cage. She's eating and drinking ok as far as I can see. The soonest vet appointment I could get is in 5 days 😟

I’d book the appointment. Perhaps you can ask them to contact you in case of a cancellation, if that would work for you. Was the blood in her urine?

I wasnt able to keep her out long enough to check her urine, but there were undiluted blood spots on the towel.

Just keep an eye and if she bleeds again I would try and bring the appointment forward. Does she appear okay when she is toileting?

Have you noticed and odd noises or signs of pain when urinating? Has she been fighting with her partner/ partners more than the usual recently? I would keep a close eye on her and if it gets any worse try to locate another vet or see if you can book a sooner date with your vet. Try to hydrate her and place in a clear plastic bin and observe the urine.

She seems a little sleepier than usual, but still playful and getting along with her mom and sister. No signs of pain, she's drinking and eating. No signs of blood in urine or stool, no pain when going. She seems to be bleeding from genital area though. I was able to get ahold of a vet who is going to write me a prescription for antibiotics for her tomorrow, so hopefully that will help. Hopefully there will be a cancellation at the vet before Tuesday, we only have one vet in the area who treats guinea pigs

I think if she’s bleeding from her genitals that needs seeing sooner rather than later. Did the vet prescribe antibiotics without examining her?

What did she think was wrong? Have you tried calling the vet to bring the appointment forward, or told them to ring if there’s a cancellation?

All the best. Let us know how you get on 🙂

The vet couldn't tell why she was bleeding, but she gave her fluids because she had a fever and sent me home with a pain reliever and antibiotics. I'm supposed to call if she gets worse or the bleeding hasn't stopped in 5 days
