yetserday evening I went in just to check the guineapigs were okay and daisy was laying down beside the ramp on the top level which isn't really unusual as they do like to lay there as upstairs I use fleece bedding. Anyway she got up and moved away and there was some blood in the blanket. It wasn't like thick blood it was more "stringy" almost like tissue but it wasn't a lot only a bit. I picked her up and checked her all over and there were no cuts or anything however there was a tiny bit of dry blood on her fur on her tummy. For a second we though she could be pregnant as she is a lot bigger than poppy and you never know, maybe poppy was actually a boy as she is very fluffy so it might have been harder to check. But we checked her and. Nope she is deffinetly a girl. I also checked to see if she had any blood on her or cuts but she didn't. I'm sure the blood want there before but she is still eating and drinking and is still her cheeky self. I'm pretty sure there is no blood in her wee its more blood on its own.

This morning I came down to check on them and there was a smear of blood on the side of the cage which seems it is perfectly inline with her bottom. I'm thinking about seperating daisy to see if it really is her and so I can check her wees and poops. I am 99% sure it is her but hopefully separating her will allow me to see. I will probably be taking her to the vets but I don't want to take her to the vets if nothing is wrong although I do know blood in a guineapig is never a good sign. Jut wondering if anyone could give any advise? I have read t could be a UTI but all the symptoms are blood in wee which she isn't showing.

I have no idea what it could be, but I think you are definitely wise to have a vet visit if you can pin point which of the girls it is coming from.

Please have your Girl vet checked. It rather seems to sit in the guts than the urinary tract or the reproductive tract, which is pretty unusual.

Make sure that you Switch to weighing daily at the same time instead of the regular weekly weigh-in and be prepared to top up with Syringe feed whenever necessary (i.e. if the weight is dropping more than 30-50g within a day or two). Hay is generally the first Food Group that is being dropped when there is a digestive or pain issue, but it is the largest (up to 80%of the daily Food intake) and the one you can control least.

Have u checked your girls noses and mouths? That looks more like bloody mucous to me.

Definately get them both to a vet if you haven't done already.. Blood from any source isn't something that should wait.

good luck x

That happens to me and my guinea pigs , if they are boys the must of been fighting but if they are girls take them to the vets to see if it's pregnant
