Hi all,

Just recently I’ve noticed my oldest piggie Jarvis (4yrs) is very lethargic, not moving much, fluffed up, not eating, and his poops have been smaller. This has come on very sudden he was completely fine a couple days ago. I think his sides feel squishy but I don’t know if I am checking the right bits. Around his middle it feels solid but I think that’s his ribs? I’ve got an appointment today for 2:30pm will he be alright until then? He has also lost around 40g since last week.

Thanks in advance <3

I'm sorry to hear he isnt well.

Please step in and syringe feed him if he isnt eating hay for himself, weigh him daily so you can adjust the syringe feeds accordingly. Being fluffed up can indicate pain.
The guides below give further details on bridging care, syringe feeding, digestive issues including bloat and weighing.

I hope all goes well at the vet, keep us posted on how things go

Thank you for your quick reply! I have tried to syringe feed him but he just isn’t having it!😆But of course I will keep trying, and I’ll update after vets appointment. Thank you for your help <3

Update:

So the vet didn’t suspect bloat, however she didn’t really give a diagnosis. She did say it doesn’t look good as he is very tiny (860g). She gave him a fluid injection. I’ve been told to syringe feed, been given Baytril, Rheumocam and Emeprid. I’ve given him the emeprid and rheumocam, but is the Baytril really necessary? Not sure if I should see how he gets on with this medicine or take him to a specialist for further diagnostics.
