My guinea pig last week wasnt pooping due to respitory issues so I started giving her critical care, and by 3 days later she was pooping like normal again and eatting normally again. Today I noticed she wasn’t really eatting and her stomach felt kind of hard which I’m not sure if she’s bloated or if I’m just being paranoid. I gave her critical care, and vitamin c once again and she’s been eatting hay and small bit of veggies. In case that she does have bloat should I just keep giving her critical care for her digesting or what should I do?

I would keep up with the critical care as you need to keep her digestion going and see if you can get her to a vet today. If the vet does think she has bloat they may prescribe gut stimulants such as Emeprid and/or Zantac. Gentle massage of the tummy can help and if you can get her to move around that can too.

Please keep up the syringe feeding and see a vet as soon as possible today.

Massaging/vibrating when you are dealing with bloat is important to help shift the gas in addition to gut stimulants. for emergencies, the handle of a cheap electric tooth brush is the what you can get hold of quickest and easiest in that respect.

If you can, please ask for both zantac and emeprid/metoclopramide; they work on different parts of the guts by stimulating the gut muscles; again to help shift the gas. Gripe water (again from a UK supermarket from the baby section) can help in mild cases to disperse the gas bubbles, but it won't do the trick in severe cases of bloat.

I have major bloat paranoia actually - always worried Bear has it. Usually she doesn't and it's just her shape and a little gas. Critical care won't do any harm so I would keep it up but definitely keep an eye on the poop and make sure she is going, I was always told as long as they are going it's not as much of a worry and is manageable - if they stop completely it can be critical however and an emergency x
