my piggy isn’t completely blind but has trouble seeing in one eye. i’m concerned if i get another piggy in with him that he will be scared. should i do it?

He won’t be scared, being with another piggy is essential for his total wellbeing and lifelong happiness. Not having total vision isn’t a factor at all really. Their vision isn’t their strongest sense anyway so it doesn’t impact them greatly
Definitely get him a friend but character compatibility is the key to a successful bond so dating at a rescue centre is the best way to find such a compatible companion

nothing much about being with other pigs, mostly about his eye condition

That’s what I was wondering - what did they say was wrong with the eye?

Guinea pigs should never be kept alone though, so regardless of this eye issue, he should live with another guinea Pig

his last owner didn’t take good care of him, i think the vet said he has fatty eye?

Ok, that’s is what I wondered if it might be

Definitely look into getting him a friend, he will be so much happier. Two boys together require a cage measuring at least 150cm x 60cm and character compatibility is key to a successful relationship. Do you have a rescue centre near you you can contact about bonding him when lockdown restrictions are eased?

no rescue centres, only pet shops but don’t really want to get one from there :( the closest rescue centre is 40 mins away

40 minutes isn’t that far away, if you can travel there. It is the best way to find a friend for your piggy

Blindness isn’t a serious problem for a piggy.
My Merab was blind for the last years of her life but it didn’t stop her living life to the full.
She remained top pig until she died at over 6 years of age.

Your boy is so handsome and sounds very lucky to have a home with you.
