I have just noticed my 4/5 month old guinea has blood coming from her vaginal area by the loos of it. I'm presuming they dnt normally have periods. Wonder if any 1 can shed some light?

She needs to see a vet ASAP. You're right into hat guinea pigs have season, but not periods.
It could be from her reproductive system or a urinary problem.

Hi

If it is sheer fresh bright red blood and not bloody pees (porphyrine dyed bloody pees are a slightly darker, duller red), then please contact a vet very promptly, latest by tomorrow. Sows in season do not bleed and any bleeding from the bottom needs to be taken seriously.

See an out-of-hours vet if the bleeding continues or contact your regular vets for their advice first thing in the morning if it stops and also if it turns out to be red pees.
How Soon Should My Guinea Pig See A Vet? - A Quick Guide

All the best. These things have a bad tendency to turn up just before or during a weekend... :(

Good luck at the vets. I hope it’s something easily resolved and she’s soon feeling better.

I am very sorry 😞 I’ve had two piggies now who have bled sheer blood both times they were seen as an emergency.

Ellen’s turned out to be a very bad interstitial cystitis flare (she suffered from IC) and we never did find the course of Elizabeth’s but she was given antibiotics for a potential infection. But both times, the guinea pig was given a thorougher examination and ultrasound scan to rule out bladder and reproductive problems.

Please do have your piggy seen by a vet asap x
