Our guinea pig winnie got spayed on Thursday last week (shes 4 years old) she’s been recovering well, the first night we had her home she did decide to start chewing on the incision site and started bleeding from it a little bit but I connected the vet and he said the incision looked good. My sister stayed up all night watching her, making sure she don’t chew on it again but recently we have been having another issue. She has been bleeding from her vaginal area and it pretty dark blood, a few days ago it was very light (it comes and goes) and the vet said this was normal 24-78 hours after a spay but I don’t know if this much blood is normal!? Its kinda concerning and I have been in contact with the vet but he hasn’t been very helpful😓A77CF2BA-F54C-4C83-BE60-CF4177ED3045.webp

Hi and welcome

Please contact your vet clinic promptly. Bleeding should not happen at this stage, especially not a substantial bleed as this.

All the best.

PS: We are doing our best to answer any threads in this specially monitored section as promptly as we can during UK day time hours and in view that we are doing this all for free in our own free time. Please use a normal title and not capitals. We will address any new threads in order of urgency as soon as one of us is coming on. Capitals make reading more difficult when skimming through alerts. Thank you.
