Hi,

Does anyone know what causes bladder stones? Creamy a three year old had a big stone which needed surgery to remove and was mis diagnosed by the first vet I saw. I keep regularly checking all the girls as I was warned they might reappear. Creamy has developed some more smaller stones and Tiggy has one too. I've managed to get them out myself rather than put them through surgery again. I've switched their dry food to a complete mix (Excel - orange packet) to make sure they get a good balance of food. Other than that they eat a mix of veg and fruit. Is there certain food to avoid which is known to cause problems? Look forward to your advice.

hope this helps you with an explanation! Its all to do with the amount of calcium they get in their diet. certain vegetables have high calcium. you search on the net and forum to note which foods are high in this if need to know. :)

It's all technical stuff! I'll look through to forum as you suggest. Thanks for your advice.

Too much calcium can cause bladder stones so that's why if you have to give your piggie osteocare you have to make sure not to give them too much! :)
