Hi, to update you after my previous post I visited an exotics specialist today who showed us the X-ray our local vet had taken (they told us it was clear) and pointed out an area of possible sludge in the bladder. She explained that we could have another x-Ray under anesthetic to confirm if there was any sludge/stones which would cost £400 and hen if there was sludge they would flush e bladder and if there is stones the operation would cost anywhere between £1000 and £2000. Just wondering if anyone has gone through any of these operations with there piggies and if they could give me any advice on costings (is this expensive or is this how much I would expect to be paying ?)

Obviously I want to do the best for my piggy so any advice will be much appreciated, thanks

@Salt and Pepper One of my boars had bladder stone surgery twice. It didn't cost anywhere near that much. I can't remember to be exact but the bladder stone removal surgery was no more than £400.

I’ve had X-rays and a bladder flush done and the cost has been nowhere near what you’ve been quoted.

@VickiA
Thanks, if you don't mind me asking which vet did u get this done at as I don't live too far away from Cheshire so that vet may also be an option for me to research, thanks again

I use Cheshire Pet Vets in Holmes Chapel (J18 of M6)

Where are you based?

@VickiA
Thank you very much, I am based 20-30 mins away from here so this would be a great option. I will definitely look into this. Do you know the name of the vet that treated your piggy? I am very grateful for this information, thanks.

The practice had 2 dedicated exotics specialists - Emily and Sara. Sara left just before Xmas and her replacement is due to start in January. Emily covers Monday of each week. Aside from Emily there are a number of general vets who have good Cavy experience.

Thank you so much for this information I will definitely give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do, I'll let you know how I get one, again thank you so much !
