Woody has been on cystease metacam and potassium citrate for around 2 years now and we are still having to go repeatedly to the vets for different medications and checkups.

Tonight my vet did the now routine of scanning Woody's bladder on the ultrasound machine, no sludge or stones but once again a supremely thickened bladder wall.

He is now prescribed sulfatrim and tramadol on top of his previous meds so hopefully this will get it under control (went tonight so medication will be started tomorrow morning)🤞.

I have seen people mention on here about cartophen (?) Injections which I have also mentioned to my vet who is now going to the rvc exotics specialist for advice on anything they may have missed and the possibility of using these injections.

Does anyone have any experience with these injections and if so have they worked?

Thanks for reading!

Heya! I currently have 2 piggies on cartrophen, one other who has since passed and will likely have yet another on them soon. They've been an absolute game changer to be honest, one is getting them due to arthritis but the others are/were for interstitial cystitis and they went from crying and squealing every single time they went to the toilet, to absolutely nothing very quickly. We do one injection a week for 4 weeks and then one a month. They're pretty easy to do, my vet has shown me how to do it and now I do them at home. They have massively improved my piggies quality of life!

Sorry to hear one has passed away ❤ I think I'm going to try push for the injections once she hears back from the exotic specialists. She has been amazingly knowledgeable but has hit a brick wall as nothing seems to be working so seems like the best next step!
