Is there any reason why a tame guinea pig would suddenly start biting?

Cally/Callis is usually a very tame and loving guinea pig but the past week he's started to nip and just this moment bit me right through my jeans! It doesn't usually hurt but this did. I only have one other pig that bites and thats Corly and he's just a grump and he tends to nibble on your finger if you offer it or nip when he's had enough. It's just not like Callis at all 8...

Perhaps he's 'exploratory' biting when he bit through your jeans ok you it hurt it would have.
offering your finger may be the same thing he's nipping to see what it is, my girls have done the same thing to me but its now stopped, it could be hormonal depending on there age, or it could be there unhappy with the way your holding them, or something has occurred thats scared him and hes biting out of fear?

Suzan my piggy is very scared of being picked up, but being a rescue pig i think she was barely handled so lots of work is being done to try to help her fear's of me picking her up.

Could he be in pain/ discomfort? Werer you stroking him at the time?

Just thinking about mites really.

I think the jeans think would of been exploring, but he tends to go for the same area of my hand, I'm usually not stroking him, he's usually just sitting on my lap, doing his own thing and then he'll give me a few bites on the fleshbit of my hand below my thumb (the top bit, not the palm). He doesn't bite when stroked, he's coming up to the age where you have problems if their in pairs 6-7 months? It's only a guess, we got them end of July from Pets@Home and I don't know how young they are when you buy them, they were small when we bought them. No signs of anything going on in the cage because I know that Kenya is the dominant one and Callis bows down to him still :) I've found that with 'bought' pigs, 1 is dominant, the other is submissive, unless I'm just lucky.

He was treated 2 months ago for inner ear infection which has given him a head tilt?
