so my big pig precious, who ive posted about before has started to bite and even draw blood. I will go to pet her and she'll let me pet her but if i move too fast she snaps around and nips me in the hand. recently i was holding her and my mother had my other pig sweet pea and was moving towards me and as she did big pig saw sweet pea and tried to bite her but instead got me in the face. It was so emotional for a piggie mom getting bit by like a fur child and i broke down crying because i didnt know why she was biting so much. She never attacks little pig unless she does the whole rumbling thing which i posted about before again. She doesnt bite unless you touch her without her seeing or when shes out on the floor. She also does it if shes laying down and you move fast to pet her. I was think, maybe shes a tad blind? Because she will also bite at the bars to her cage and shes caught little pig to do this also.

Guinea pigs bite in defense as a split second reflex when they feel threatened and are already very stressed. :(
Please concentrate on working around her prey animal instincts. Keep her as stress-free as possible since she is so fear-aggressive and respect that fear is a great motivator. it takes a very long time to work past it if your piggy has got a bad background with traumatic experiences or has been born to a highly stressed out sow and has internalised trigger happy prey animal instincts as her default setting. But it is well worth doing so, even if it takes months and months to relax her and to build up trust slowly. ;)

Take the time to read in the links below about the different prey animal instincts and how you can work around them.
The biting guide has got a chapter about defense biting. it has nothing to do with wanting to hurt you; you were just in the way.
