Hi i have had sophie for 6 weeks this saturday and a few weeks ago she was biting me and still is i am weary of picking her up i have noticed she is getting a belly ? Ive been researching and i keep comming up with pregnancy related to what she is doing. Could it be that she is just growing? i had her when she was 7 weeks and she will be 13 this weekend i dont knwo whats wrong with her? x

Is she biting or nipping? I notice sometimes with younger piggies that they like the taste of your fingers and sometimes will nip. I'm not sure about the pregnancy thing. She may just be growing and they do get big bellies pretty quick. I'm sure someone more helpful will post soon :)

Females develop a belly - it can be just the change from baby body shape to girl body shape. You need to worry when her belly seems to stick out to one side one day and to the other the other day. Keep monitoring her weight, and if it goes up a lot quicker than her companion, a trip to vet might be advisable. A pregnancy lasts for 8-10 weeks, and the last three weeks are showing.

Where did you acquire Sophie? Just to worry you, my first guinea pig was from a shop and had been impreganted during the transport (where they put all piggies together) at the ripe old age of plus/minus 6-8 weeks. I was presented with two bundles of joy within 7 weeks of having guinea pigs.

I had her from a breeder i hope shes not pregnant, but if she is i want to make sure that I'm doing everything right for her.

I've just posted some pics in the pregnancy section; hopefully that helps! As you have had your girl for six weeks she should be in one of these stages if she was pregnant; Minx is about the same age.

Sorry just seen them and her belly is like the first pic bulgy OMG I cant even take a pic of her now i will try with my phone in a bit x
