Hiya, I currently have 5 boys, 2 are approx 12mths, 1 10mths (they live together) Then there are my 2 babies approx 4mths, I have had the babies for around 4 weeks, they are sweet boys, however 1 has taken to biting, he has drawn blood twice, once on my 7yr old son (I thought it may of been his fault though he did appear to be gentle) then once on my other half (my other half wasnt doing anything)

Both times he has been happily sat on someones lap, gave no warning he wasnt happy so really cant understand it. He is normally the chilled happy one.

Both babies are nibblers though, they will nibble our clothing or fingers alot, we put it down to feeding veggies on our laps so stopped doing that around 2 weeks ago in the hope they stop expecting it. I dont get what I am doing wrong though, does anyone have any idea how I can stop the biting as I would hate for the kids to become nervous of him?

Also my older 3 boys were rescued, they came in a stupidly small cage and had clearly never been handled, I have them in a bigger cage and created what we call piggie corner using my sons old playpen and in the day they have the cage open, however try as we might we cant get 2 of them used to being handled, they will eat out of our hands and even climb onto my daughters lap, but actual cuddles are a no no, they squeal really loud and run and hide, is it time I gave up and accepted they dont want to be picked up and cuddled? (I have had these about 2mths) xx

ok il answer the last bit first as ive just read it-2months is still early days so give them time, some pigs dont like the big fuss of cuddles though so the best you can get is a stroke on your lap
as for the baby well i had a baby pig like that-little git he was have you tried shouting at him loudly when he does it all i can say though is Roddy grew out of it so maybe its just a baby thing
have you got all 5 boys together?

Its normal for babies to nibble, mine does. They are just communicating and finding their way. Be patient, it took nearly a year for my first pair to become tame. They are prey animals and always on high alert. Just be calm and gentle, i know its frustrating ut its worth the wait :))
I have no advice about the biter though, no idea with that one.

Hi thank you for your reply, I havent tried shouting, I didnt want to scare him lol

No they live seperate, the 3 big ones stayed together when they came, then the babies live together, I read you cant put males with males unless they are brothers or put together as babies (or have I read wrong?)

Thank you, I had no idea it was normal (the last time I owned piggies I was only little myself lol, They are teaching me soo much I had forgotten how noisy they were lol) I will be patient though, I love them all to pieces, they are fab! Just with 4 children having one that wants to eat us isnt ideal lol x
