I have two 13 week males Charlie and Freddie, the last week there have really started to really grumble on at each other, since I got them at 6 weeks Charlie has always been the more dominant one and Freddie just accepted that. It just seems this week they making alot more noise at each other and alot more bum wiggling mainly Charlie at Freddie, which Freddie does abit back but usually backs down and walk/runs away and lets Charlie has his way. I am not sure if this is the start of them falling out as if for any reason their are parted there go crazy sqeeking and running about till their back together so it is a bit like there bickering but can't not be together am I worrying over nothing or should i be worried?

I have made sure they both have their houses/space in the cage and each have their own food etc..since i got them and they spend most of the day in their run so they have lots of space to run around.

I have two boars too! Harvey and Artie, and alike your boys Harvey is the big boss and Artie is really laid back and isn't bothered if he's boss or not as long as he has his hay he's happy!:)

Rumble strutting is normal esp as they get into their teenage days (between three months to nine months) and boars will have their boy bickering days, as long as theres no very loud teeth chattering, nips, yawning or raised hackles then they're just sorting out their boar issues and you don't need to worry to much just keep an eye out for any of the behaviours mentioned in this thread below:

(A very infromative and helpful thread on boar behaviour)

My boys bicker daily and their have been a fair few scarey face off's with one another but they soon make up. It's really good that you've given them two of everything and extra hideys for them :)

I hope i've helped and you don't feel so worried now, it is a bit scarey/worrying the first time you see them rumblestrut at one another but it should soon pass,

good luck with the boys x

Thank you for your advice much appreciated :))

I think I worry about them fighting as my previous piggie I had before I got these two he was attacked badly by another piggie and seeing two piggies in a full on fight is nothing i want to see again so I felt I took a risk getting another two males after losing my other piggie recently. I so want them to get along they do play well together and it would be a shame if they fell out, it does seem different to last time so fingers crossed.

Your boys are now at an age when the big hormones are waking up. Flare ups can happen over the next few months until their bodies will settle down again when they are fully grown adults.

Please separate only if there are fights with bites to the face, ears or the rump, or if one of your boys is humping the other so incessantly that he cannot eat and sleep in peace.

Awww thats horrible i never want to see my boys fight, ive heard they can be nasty :( I hope he's okay after the attack! I also find having a huge amount of hay can be a great distraction from wanting to be the big boar! :)) hehe!
