bill and ozzie day 2

Its day 2 still no blood drawn so onwards. Bill seems to be suffering some sort of issue with sharing with a new pig not helped by Ozzie seeming to be desperate to be his friend as i write they are both together on the sofa being civil bill still sees ozzie as a threat despite Ozzie backing down on every single occasion except the first time bill tried to hump him

advice and or encouragement would be appreciated
 
Its Bound to take time, trust needs to be built between them, hopefully bill will learn to accept oz when he realises he is not a threat just a friend.

The fact they are not actually fighting is a great sign. It takes time for them to get to know each other and learn they are both not a threat. Maybe put some tasty treats down for them to share. Also, have you tried bathing them together?
 
for advice purposes Bill is around 2 years old maybe 2 and a half his age was un known when we had him but he was thought to be older than a year and we have had him a year at least. Ozzie is around 3-4 months old again true age not known as he was given to us by a neighbour who couldn't keep him

tried the bathing twice and as i don't have any vinegar cleaned the hutch with lemon juice
 
Oh dear. Well they are not fighting which at least is something. Guinea pigs know who they like and do not like!
 
odd observation Bill is doing that distinctive loud clattering chatter but his hackles arent raised Ozzie is just ignoring him its more when Oz bangs into him or tries to say hello that bill starts maybe hes just a grouchy sod
 
It sounds like he is saying 'go away'. At least they are tolerating each other.
 
i dont think Ozzie is going to endear himself to bill if he keeps using him as a pillow :))

It sounds pretty par for the course - not sharing and insisting on a private sphere is typical for this pase of dominance; it comes with staking out the claim of being top piggy of any gender. See it more as an ongoing discussion on where Bill draws the boundaries and how far Ozzy can push them. ;)

I fear i have spoken too soon Ozzie is now Hogging the hutch Bill is relegated to the run and pigloo
