After a long period of mourning the sudden death of Mimiu and my beloved heart tilty piggy Momo ❤️, I got back on my feet and started taking videos and photos of my boys again. The mourning still continues, especially for Momo, every little thing reminds me of him. I'm still trying to find the strength to pay a tribute to him and Mimiu in the "Rainbow Bridge" session. 🌈

Bijou lost a lot of weight after losing his bonded mate Momo, I had to start him on supplements and critical care, he was weighing around 1kg, and he reached 600g and a few grams! Now he has gained weight again and is around 800 grams, Thanks God! Bijou is now completely healthy and eating a lot! But I never saw him popcorning again after Momo's passing. Still, I can say for sure, he is happy, he loves to scream for food!

Xuxu, now with the definitive name of Bode, was sad about the loss of his companion Mimiu, but from what I could see, there were no very notable changes. He hasn't lost any weight, he screams non-stop when he hears me making the slightest movement! Also, he popcorns a lot!

Bijou and Bode cannot live together, they are completely incompatible. So they live side by side in different enclosures. But I've seen them communicating with each other several times! So I think everything is going well.

I ended up changing the name from "Xuxu" to "Bode", as it fits his personality better.

Bijou is extremely scared, of the four that were there before, he was always the most scared of everything. Today, for the first time since I met Bijou, he finally opened up to me a little bit. He lay down, stretching out, completely at ease on my lap, it was a magical moment! He has never done this before, it made me extremely happy!

Have you actually tried a bonding session with them? They can surprise us when it comes to who they decide they like.

Do you mean like a boar meeting with other boars? If so, unfortunately there is no such thing in my country 🙁 and my fear is to get another boar and end up with a third enclosure. I was thinking of maybe trying a new bonding process between Bijou and Bode, but I'm afraid they'll fight again like they did when I tried the first time.

Yes, they did. It was a full fur ball fight and Bijou ended up with an injured nose with blood and some parts of his body with blood spots, which I assume were nails stuck in.

I really want them to get along together. My fear is trying again and having the same result or worse....

My understanding from reading on this forum is that once there has been a serious fight between boars (which your above description seems to be), then you can't try again, it's over. But you can keep them next to each other.

Maybe a boar expert will get back to you definitively on this.

This is my understanding too.
Bonding is as much about character as anything else .
Can they live side by side ?

Yes, they are living side by side. Sometimes I see them interacting but not very much. When one screams, the other screams too. I just miss Bijou's popcorns and zoomies 💔 Perhaps in the future I will venture to get another boar, ensuring an extra enclosure if something goes wrong.
