Big Enough For 4 Pigs?

Generally speaking, it's probably too small for 4 piggies but if they have lots of time in the 12x12 run it should be ok. Just hope the weather's OK this year like last year.

I'd personally say that's fine for 4 but 4 only.

Seeing as it averages 2 guinea pigs per hutch. As this is a double
decker hutch I think it'd be fine. But just make sure there is atleast 2 of everything
or they will probably get annoyed and feel cramped.

You could maybe duplicate the bottom hutch to the top?

If they have a 12x12 run and they're in it a few times a week I think
they'd be just fine.

Please correct me if I'm wrong of anything :L

I have that very hutch! I was lucky enough to get a 2nd hand one in excellent condition (kept inside) for only £51. I have 3 piggies in mine , however despite adding carpet and raised bits to the ramp and adding some bricks at the base to lesson the slope they won't use the ramp. It is fairly steep. If they don't use it soon, I will have to see if I can make another half level - it seems such a waste they have a whole top floor they have never seen :(. The hutch is well made though and seems quite a good buy.

Thanks for the replies :)

I'll attach a permanent run onto the hutch to give them more space and looking at trying to waterproof the large run so they can have access to it even when it's wet :)

@Rufus Years ago I had a similar problem, got a 2 tier hutch but one of my boys couldn't work out how to use the ramp so I sat down with him and put him half way up and waited for him to move ready to catch in case he jumped. He seemed to get the idea pretty quickly and the nxt day he was running up and down the ramp

I have a ferplast 120 double cage for my three.

I have modified the ramp so it isn't so steep and carpeted the ramp but for the first week, they wouldn't use it.

I can fully recommend ramp tunnels. I brought one and my pigs started to use it almost straight away and now they love doing zoomies up and down the ramp and they are completely safe in doing so.

I brought mine from here and the same company also sell on ebay. Just type in ramp tunnel.

They sell them in two lengths. 750mm and 900mm. I ordered a 750mm and it fits perfectly.

I see on that particular hutch the ramp has a side, you may need to remove it for the tunnel to sit on top as the tunnel has valcro straps to secure it to the ramp.

Thanks for those ideas. I will try the coaxing (if only they knew all the lovely extra hay that's at the top!) and look at tunnels. I had seen those and wondered if they would help :)

Thats how I showed my babies how to use the ramp in their cage. Also tasty veg treats at either end of the ramp should temp them :)

We have success :). After having ordered a tunnel, they started using the ramps a couple of days before it arrived :lol!: Loving it now!

Typical! But great news they are now using the ramp.

Did you order the tunnel from CandE cosies? If so, I think they're great quality. If not, I am interested where else sells them :)
