Well I now have three piggies in an outdoor hutch, which is Thistle Hall from P@H. Although I guess this is technically ok, I am lusting after a much bigger hutch for them.

I am dreaming of a 6ft by 2 1/2 or 3ft hutch, either a double or triple x).

I've had a look around, and have realised they're pretty expensive. I have found one on the rabbithutchwarehouse that is similar to what I need, but would need to be customised. Has anyone ever used them, and what are their hutches like? I saw a few bad comments about them on a rabbit forum, but nothing in detail. Or, has anyone bought from an independant hutch company (not P@H etc) and would recommend them? x

I have a 6ft by 2ft double and an 8ft by 2ft double which is being delivered soon. Both were custom made by people in the local area, which is probably going to be your cheapest bet.

My Dad did the 6ft by 2ft, he has some woodwork skills but nothing amazing - if you have a handy relative you could always ask. The 8ft by 2ft is being built by a guy who makes sheds for a local garden centre, I just asked one day if they did anything hutch wise and they said if I took in a quick sketch/plan then they'd get on it. It's also quite good because I got to decide the wood that was used, various thicknesses and the size of the bedding areas etc.

The other option is to look for a carpenter in your area, they will be able to build you something no problem and because all of these people are so desperate to do business right now they will give you a good quote.

I've never used rabbithutchwarehouse but I would recommend rehutches - but they are very pricey! Fabulous quality though!

Our two old double hutches were from Rabbit Hutch Warehouse and I was quite pleased with them. They were better quailty that P@H and both are still going strong (my brother has our first for his pair and our second hutch is waiting to be collected by our friend). The only thing I didn't like was that you hade to completely remove the front of the lower level, I much prefer it to be hinged.

Our current (and last!) hutch is from http://www.rehutches.com/ It was expensive, but the quality is amazing. It weighs a ton and it is all made from solid wood - no flimsy ply!

The hutches, etc do look good quality from the pictures. £240 seems reasonable for the size you are looking for. Does that include delivery?

Just make sure that it has fox proof mesh and bolts included in the price. :)

that is what i noticed on the bottom level, i would hate to have the doors in that way, much prefer the hinged doors!

those hutches are beautiful, but so expensive! though they do look like they'd stand a bomb blast with safe piggies inside ha x

WOW 6ft x 3ft double is massive! My 3 piggies have a 5ft x 2ft double and my dad thinks its a palace (i had to beg him to get my 2 out of the tiny 4ft x 17 inch hutch that we bought 2 years ago not knowing it was too small) if i had a hutch that big i would be tempted to get another piggie! definalely enough space:)

That seems pretty good to me - what with the way the price of wood has increased lately! The hutches on that website do look really solid I have to agree, so I think it's probably a good bet!

I have a hutch that dad and I made.. It's really good and have had it for about 3 years

your dad must be so lovely! my dad is quite handy with woodwork, he built my bed and wardrobe when he was younger but i think i'm so fussy i'd send him to an early grave making him build me a hutch! :)) x

it does include delivery, which is great. i've asked for a photo of a thicker mesh he has mentioned, as what is on the hutch on the website looks a bit flimsy, especially for hanging water bottles etc x

i'm hoping so, they do look sturdy! i'm drawing up plans now but think i might take a trip to see him just to make sure it's going to be just right. can't wait! x
