I was playing with my two Guinea pigs until I suddenly notice one of them had a massive ball on its nail! It was brown. I am not sure what to do!

Hi

It is likely a stuck-on dried poo your piggy has stepped into.

Please soak the foot gently in some baby-warm water and then gently try to work the poo off. You may have to repeat the process, depending on how solid the poo is, so the water won't necessarily penetrate too far, depending on how dry the poo is.

It is probably dried on poop that your piggie has stepped in- the best thing to so is to soften it either by soaking the foot in warm water or, if your pig won't let you do that, wrapping the foot in a warm, damp paper towel until it softens and then you should be able to remove it. Hope this helps!

:agr: It’s probably something they’ve stood in, and as described above it should gently soak off.

If it’s poop, then that’s sometimes referred to as “poo shoes” and it can indicate that your piggies have slightly too soft poops - if they do have overly soft poop then this can indicate a gut disturbance, Taking them off fresh veggies for 24-48 hours can help firm up the poops
