A friend of mine (the lady who supplies my horse feed) has just had a video of herself posted on her Facebook page, telling everyone that she “made 20k in the last hour and for everyone to follow the link to find out more”
I immediately knew it must be a scam as she wouldn’t do that, but it was a video of her! Her talking in the video and her voice. Scary

The hackers had used her voice and one of her photos to create this video of her. Her actually speaking to us all on camera, as if recorded in her kitchen

Another friend of mine also had a phone call from her son asking for money. Luckily she knew better. But again, it was actually his voice that the scammers used. That they’d recorded from a previous phone call and then used AI to manipulate

Whilst AI certainly has its benefits, it’s also terrifying

I just wanted to share as these scammers are getting better and better 😡

They were talking about this on my local radio station a few weeks ago, telling everyone to use their common sense and think whether what they were really hearing was true or not.

They actually made an AI version of the presenters voice and put it out live on air and asked listeners to phone in when they thought the AI voice was being aired. The AI voice was very convincing. It just lacked the emotion and nuances of natural speech.
