Hopefully at the end of this post will be some pics of the piggie housing. They occupy the shed on the right and the rabbits the shed on the left.
Rabbits area is roughly 4'x6' with an upper area of 4'x2'
Piggies although the shed(ex Wendy house) is roughly 5'x10' they only occupy part of it at the moment, roughly 5'x5' with a 5'x2' upper area. This is to be extended when better weather arrives so they have the entire floor area.
My question is how best to heat these, currently they are all in the conservatory which is ok but not ideal
I have seen 'tube heaters' in screwfix, but am wary as to whether these are up to the job or not. Oil filled radiator are another option as various sizes are available with thermostats so may be more suitable.
Does anyone have any preferences for either of the above or any other suggestions I could investigate?
Electrical supply is no problem but must be affordable and cheap to run and also safe to leave on overnight.
I have some silver/foam insulation left over from the laminate flooring so will be lining the sheds with that.

Many thanks

I use an oil filled radiator in mine. Has a thermostat and hubby thinks they are quite safe.
It is on night and day at this time of year!
If you are also lining the sheds with Kingspan they should be lovely and cosy!

Have been outside today and installed a oil filled radiator in each shed. Just in time it seems as we have had some snow and the temperature has dropped again. Have put thermometers in both sheds and one outside to monitor if the radiators are doing the job as I only used the smaller oil filled radiators. Will nip outside in about half an hour and check the temperature.

Nice one :) Yes, it has got a lot chiller around here again too

Hi, I too have the oil filled heater in the shed. I've been told heat lamps are more expensive to run. When we had the -10°C I've locked my piggies inside the hutch and separated the shed with large felt sheet (so the radiator wasn't covered!) To create smaller den. I have wireless weather station (£15) and one thermometer is inside the hutch. I have the clock on my night desk so can see what temperature it's inside the sleeping area. I was more than 15°C warmer in there than outside! That was extreme, tho. Normally I just give them snugglesafe at night and adjust heating depending on the forecast.
Most importantly, change hay in the sleeping area every day so it's not damp. You can make smaller den with cardboard box and stuff it with hay and put snuggle safe in there. Smaller area will keep the heat better. I've noticed temperature in the opened living area is about 3°C lower than in sleeping area. Everytime I've checked on them they were nice and cosy in their sleeping area ❤
Just to give you an idea of what the shed looks like x
Your guys have nice place, too

Just been out and checked it's -2 outside and +14 in with the guineas and +12 in with the rabbits.

You’re doing a great job. Lucky piggies (and buns). Those oil filled radiators are so efficient.

I have an insulated shed for my rabbits with an oil filled radiator in it. Wonderful things.
