I’m looking at either a wooden triangular run that has a shelter house at one end, or a metal pen from zooplus that has a mesh top?

The metal will be easier to store but the wooden more substantial and safer to use?

@Pigjax The size is most important. I bought a triangular one years ago and it's tiny. I tend to use it as a hospital cage now as it's far too small for anything other than a single pig.

I use two, both metal. One is the hexagonal one with the green mesh cover and the other is rectangular with an integral metal roof. I feel safer with the roofed one, but the roof doesn't open, so I have to wait for them to go into their little hutch before I can take them back in again. The hexagonal one is also easier to store, so as long as your garden is secure, the mesh is enough to protect from birds.

I would definitely try to avoid the triangular wood one and go with a square/rectangular wooden one.

I have a square wooden one with a roof that opens. It folds up for storage. It's sturdy and I've had it about 6 or 7 years. I'd recommend it, but would love an even larger one. The triangular ones are, as said above too small. But if it comes with a part ply wood roof (for shade) that doesn't have holes in it, I'd add holes to allow any rainwater to drain. I've had to replace the plywood with wire mesh.

I use a wood and metal one that folds up. The roof is detachable for storage but has proper fasteners for safety. It’s fab. I’d love the large one but my lawn isn’t big enough!
