Hey I'm gonna be moving the pigs outside ASAP as we're trying to sell the house and need rid of all the smells! Just wondering what type of hutch is better? And if anyone knows anywhere online that does them for a good price?

Been looking at these types:

150cm x 50cm

125cm x 96cm

Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks :)

These are nice hutches, just take care that the ramp is not too steep for piggies to get up and down. You may want to consider lengthening it and/or placing edges either side to prevent any accidents or falls. Providing you have a pretty secure garden these are ok, but i could personally ensure they are locked up in the hutch during the night time in case of predators. If you have two piggies then the upstairs hutch area should be 120cm x 60cm approx. For my herd i have an eglu but these are pricey, but are very durable and fox proof. I guess it depends on the long term use for the hutch too? If you want a look they're here: https://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/guinea_pig_products/

Happy shopping.

Thanks Abi

I've decided just to adapt the indoor cage I was building for them. The corner posts are 7cm square so will leave room for insulation between the plywood and cladding. That's a 4ft x 2ft (inside the posts) 2 tier cage. And will be putting a 6ft x 4ft run onto it. I have some heavy duty galvansied steel mesh that someone has left lying around for a year, so I'm just going to take it and use that on the outside, and the normal indoor mesh on the inside so the piggies can't get heads stuck or anything, and no predators can get in :)

Oh and I'm going to make a little banister for them for around the hole above the ramp and right down the ramp lol!

Looking forward to seeing photos of the finished product with your piggies enjoying it. Sounds like it will be very spacious and good idea about the ramp banister.
