Hi, I'm going away to university in September and want to get my piggies a new cage before I go.

I can't have a c&c cage as Pip likes to jump and would quite happily jump and escape. Also I have two dogs that see the pigs as puppies and don't stop licking them if they are out.

The pigs live in my room- and are big chewers- no matter how many toys (like bridges and carrot houses) I put in their cage!

Thanks!

Thankyou! I will deffo look into this cages although I might have to get a shelf to get it off the ground! Also are guineapigs ok with two tier cages? Like going down the ramps? Or does it depend on your piggie? As I think a two tier cage might be more useful as more space to exercise? Is that a wise ideA?

A lot of piggies don't use the ramp in the cage unless you created a barrier and line it with something for them to grip onto to make them feel more secure :) hope that helps!

For the first few years my piggies had only one story and when I swapped over to a three story cage all the needed was a little enticing to go up and down the ramps and now they do it all the time by themselves. It took a few days to teach them but just make sure at the start the have access to food and water as they won't be able to get it until they learn. Hope this helps.

I have 4 piggies in 2 different cages.
Eddi and Oreo fly up and down their ramp all the time, and love the extra space if offers.
Ruby and Lucy refuse to go up it at all.
I have tried everything (enticing with veg, ramp covers, etc) and nothing will get them up that ramp (which is well made with a grippy tread and high sides).
I once put Ruby up there to see if she would come down and that didn't work either.

So I guess my advice would be to assume that a guinea pig won't use a ramp, and get the biggest single floor cage you can accommodate.
You can try adding a mezzanine level and see if they use it, but I wouldn't rely on it.
