Hi all!
I just wanted to make a quick post to see if anyone has any opinions on liquid hay options out there? I've tried Oxbow Critical Care (both flavours) but one of my piggies HATES it! Has anyone tried the Science Selective recovery feed or the Burgess Excel Dual Care? Would love some opinions because right now it's a battle!
Thank you :)
Hannah

Hi

Critical Care is not to every piggy's taste but there are some other recovery formula brands you can consider that often go down better:

Our boys have enjoyed Emeraid critical care and the burgess excel dual care in the past.
I hope your piggie feels better soon.

Thank you so much! 😊

I've tried Emeraid, Burgess and SS Recovery over the years. I've found different piggies prefer different ones but the one I get a positive reaction from most often is the Burgess.

I’ve tried Emeraid and Science Selective Recovery Plus for piggies of mine who have needed syringe feeding x
Mine love Emeraid and Science Selective Recovery Plus. If you're going to get the Science Selective one makes sure its the Science Selective Recovery Plus as that has added Vitamin C in and is more suitable for guinea pigs.

All of mine have loved Oxbow Anise flavour with a bit of mashed banana through it.
The only time I had a different one was one the vet gave me - I think it may have been Science Selective but I can’t remember.
It’s the only one none of mine liked.

Mine love Emeraid intensive care (and I’ve always introduced every pig to its taste so that in the event of an emergency they know what it is). Critical care has never been a favourite with mine but the SS recovery plus has been well tolerated. It’s expensive finding the right one for your piggies but it’s worth trying to find one they enjoy. I’d also say that in the event of an emergency your own pellets mushed in warm water will also do as a stop gap.
