I was wondering which hay rack would be the safest? This thread can also be a suggestion for hay racks.
I know that ball hay racks/wheel hay racks/the V shaped wire hay rack had caused more than a few accidents.

Here is a hay rack I'm currently using for the pigs.
They are from daiso, I cut a piece of cloroplast and stuffed it on top to prevent them from pulling out whole chunks of hay.)
1. Wire Rack

Here are a few I found which looked fairly safe, and from what I have found on forums, seemed to be safe/ undiscussed of.
2.Cylinder Hay Rack

3. Wooden V Shaped Rack

4. Wooden rack with a lid

This is kinda similar to the 2nd one, but has a lid on it to prevent jumping in the hayrack,I found a link for it on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hay-Rack-Wooden-Seat-25/dp/B000NINWWC

5. Plastic Bag Dispenser

These are plastic bag dispensers.I have seen people use it to dispense hay. The top would be too narrow for the pigs to jump in, and if needed can be covered up by coroplast/ a cloth etc.

6. External Hay Rack

I've been using this also and have not encountered problems so far.

External would be my choice if I were to use one.

Our girls love burrowing in the hay so we wouldn't have one.

Hopefully you'll get lots of recommendations on this thread, I will also have a look on the forum search for you

Thank you for the recommendation.

If I were to let them burrow in the hay, and they pee in it, do I have to replace it everyday?

Thank you, that is very nice of you 😊

I have tried a few of the hay racks above, but like @sport_billy I have found that mine simply adore burrowing and playing in their hay.
I use large plastic trays with newspaper om the bottom, and fully clean and refill then every second day.
The pigs do 90% plus of their pees in there, so this keeps their cage cleaner for longer. Plus they still wheek and pop corn wildly whenever they get a new hay tray.
I fill their trays with cheaper hay that I buy in bulk by the bale.
I then hang hay bags above the hay trays to put their more expensive 'fancy' hay in. I do get through a lot of hay, but mostly it is the cheap stuff that gets thrown, so to me it is worth it to see how happy it makes the piggies.

I see ! I used to get Chipsi Meadow Hay in their litter tray and place the better quality hay in hay racks.
But then I found weird things in the hay (chunk of soil, weird plants,....)
How do you get your cheaper hay?

⚠️ i saw a thread here about the plastic bag dispensers as hay racks and one pig got their head stuck in it! please be careful

I use storage boxes changed every couple of days.

also small dog beds cos they have a nice low bit which makes life easier for older guinea pigs. Rosie is one of my youngest!

Putting the trays on growbag trays helps to contain the mess
