Is there a best fleece?

So far I've only ever used the cheapest primark fleece blankets, but I'm planning an upgrade for my piggies.

And what's the difference between a good fleece and a not so good fleece?

I like polar fleece (anti pill) I always get mine from a textile shop they sell it by the metre.

Does Polar Fleece look any different?

It sounds good. I'd like to try it.

Polar and anti-pill are very similar; anti-pill means it doesn't bunch up and develop a "bobbled" effect after many uses. Polar fleece doesn't usually bobble unless it is used for a year or so.

To add to the confusion you can also get sherpa fleece, which is deliberately bobbled and has a bit more of a "vetbed" feel to it - rather like the insides of the Super Pet cuddlecups. However I have no experience of using sherpa fleece as a main bedding...in any case I prefer my fleece smooth, and leave the bobbled bit to the Vetbed cosy areas. :))

I buy my fleece off eBay; it's easier as it's sold by the metre. In my experience there is no difference in the quality or how well it works, between fleece throws/blankets sold in shops and fleece by the metre.

I find that the best Polar Fleece is made in Germany (don't ask me why!) it appears slightly thicker and lusher if you know what I mean. I always try to go to the textile shop as they ususally sell the last of the roll off cheap and it's usually a minimum of a couple of meter's for half the normal price. Some fleece blankets I've found very thin and not brilliant but maybe I've been looking in the wrong places.

do you know what I have baby fleece blankets I bought when my 2 where little, that never got used as I liked the sleeping bags for them

They would be lovely and thick and not bobbley

Ohhhh thanks for the ideas
