Best ear cleaning

So my babies have been good before I just noticed that their ears are crusty or like stained with crud
I usually have them pretty cleaned. What's the best way to clean the ears. Like just soap n water or maybe lotion to soften it up and use a tip or a washcloth and I'm also using the comb to comb it out around the fur of the ears.

Hi Please take pictures and contact your vet. It could be a fungal infection, ear mites or wax.
Please NEVER pour water, soap or oil down ears; you can cause some real damage and a lot of pain and discomfort!

Yeah I'm waiting for vet to call back for an appointment. I was just looking for something to make her comfortable for now. I've only just wiped her ears off a bit of the loose stuff
