Hi all,

We have 2 piggies who live in an indoor cage. We're currently using Fitch bedding but it smells very quickly and isn't cheap (£24 for 20kg). I have been looking into Aubiose, Easibed etc.

Any recommendations?

Thank you :)

I'd definitely recommend Aubiose or Aubichick - Aubichick is the same but finer. Aubiose is approx £11-12 per 20kg and Aubichick approx £8/20kg :)

I like aubiose the best. It’s relatively cheap and I find it doesn’t smell. The only downside I’ve found it that it can be a little bit prickly and sometimes gets stuck in “undignified” places.

I’ve also used the easibed before and I can say I wasn’t that impressed with it. Maybe it’s just my pigs, but they seemed to sneeze and itch a lot whilst on it. It also had a very strong woody smell to it which I didn’t like. It also felt a bit damp to me, despite being kept in a dry area.

I hear carefresh is very good and I would love to try it. But it’s very expensive especially if you’re like my and have two 5x2 c&cs to fill.

I use to use Aubiose and quite like it but now use high quality, dust extracted shavings with hay on top. I have no experience of Easibed. Just don't use anything that is medicated such as Medibed, as they are treated to stop horses eating them but this does not stop guinea pigs and can cause liver damage.

I have used a mix of aubiose and snowflake softchip. I loved the aubiose but had to stop using the aubiose as i reacted to it - I had to wear a dust mask even when just pop picking and replacing the wet patches ☹️ I’ve still got lots of softchip so I’m using it in their hay tray.
