Hello everyone,
I own two long-haired piggies and as expected their fur requires more attention than short-haired breeds. I brush my piggies often and trim the back end when it gets too long. However, it sometimes isn’t enough, particularly with my sow, who is an Abyssinian - no matter how often I trim her, bits are often missed and I don’t want her to get matted.

Are pet clippers a better alternative for trimming than scissors? And if so, what is the best (UK) brand? Preferably something that could be ordered online and won’t snag on their fur. Thanks!

I think @Betsy is writing a grooming guide as we speak... and @Flutterby has a lot of floofy fur grooming experience too!
Hopefully they will be along soon with some recommendations :)
I think I read the trimming guide @Betsy did on using scissors, which I did find very helpful but any advice on using clippers would also be greatly appreciated! 😊

I got some quiet dog grooming clippers from eBay which work okay. When I clip mine I go with the flow of the fur and not against it as this thins it out and if you carry on will shear them nicely. Even my grumpiest pig seems to accept the clippers much more readily than the scissors. That’s reminded me that I need to do some trimming of my own.....😬

That’s very helpful advice to know, thank you! 😊

I bought a set of ceramic quiet clippers off eBay for £12, they were cordless and came with 2 rechargeable battery packs, my Stanley was very long haired and let me clip him with no problems. ;)

I am indeed! I am just making my somewhat scattered and unintelligible (to everyone else) notes make sense! It has taken a long time but things do if they are worth doing well. Hopefully you'll find it a good guide! 🤔

My daughter bought these to use on her horse lol...she was scared of conventional horse clippers because they were too loud...these are perfect.
