Hello I am New here I am due to get a pair of piggies in 2 weeks time I have bought everything already for them but my biggest problem is I refuse to use woodshavings as I really don't see how this can be comfortable on their delicate little paws now my question if anybody can help is I will be cleaning the hutch daily with my daughter and a deep clean 1-2 times a week more if needed but can you use puppy training pads/ toddler bed mats as they are absorbent and really soft to walk on I will be putting newspaper underneath for added warmth and hay in bed hidey holes to snuggle also there is a hay rack for eating even though they will eat their bed lol just wanting to know ifit will be safe to use the mats if anybody else uses them any tips etc please thank you in advance x

Hi there
You can use the puppy/toddler bed pads, but lots of guinea pigs will chew them so they need to be either covered with fleece or layers and layers of newspaper and hay :)
There are other bedding types than shavings - you will have lots of choice :) How about newspapers, an absorbent substrate like aubiose or fitch and then hay on top to snuggle in? x
