hi everyone, I had to have my scooby pts yesterday and she leaves behind my little girl speedy who is 3 years old soon. I have been unable so far to get her a new sow friend and someone has suggested a neutered boy may be better. please what are your opinions ? is it easier to bond a sow with a neutered boy than with another sow, would a baby be best maybe? also I'm worried if the neutering was not successful , my girl has never given birth so she would be seriously at risk if she were to get pregnant, how effective is neutering, is it 100% effective? id really appreciate your thoughts on all this as I want to do whats best for my gal. thank you

If you decide to have a boar neutered to live with a sow, you need to wait 6 weeks post op until he is ‘safe’ to live with a sow.

It all comes down to character comparability on whether they will get on or not whether you choose a sow or a boar as a friend.

Your best bet would be to contact a rescue who can do the bonding for you. Some rescues already have neutered boars ready to be rehomed so it’s best to ring around

I am so sorry to hear you have lost Scooby.
Most rescues aren't doing bonding's at the moment because of COVID but I would get in touch and register with any within travelling distance of you so you are on the waiting list when they reopen. Have a look at the Rescue Locator.
