Talulah
New Born Pup
Yesterday we lost one of our 4.5yr old sows after a difficult 3 weeks of illness, dental issues and critical care.
We humans are devastated but I’m trying to support our other sow as much as possible. We’ve read all the guides on here (thank you) but I’m still unsure of a route to take.
Whilst we adore our pigs we don’t want to get into an endless cycle of replacing pigs for companionship but we know that she needs companionship. We’d end up falling in love with another and then it just goes on and on.
at the moment she seems ok, she is still eating and is enjoying cuddles with us and giving more licks than ever, she does seem a bit confused though.
we’ve got her in her “holiday home” in the living room whilst we’re in here so she has company.
She does have a large ovarian cyst too so this could also cause issues with bonding and side by side isn’t an option for us due to space.
If it’s the best option for her I’d give her back to the rescue we got her from (part of the adoption agreement and the only other place we trust with her) but would they rehome her or keep her as part of their elderly tribes? would she be able to bond into a tribe?
whats the likelihood of her successfully living alone with us?
