Hi,

Just thought I better check that this is normal behaviour. George seems to love Tia so much so that when she is in one of the grass tunnels he will either climb in with half of him sticking out (as not enough room) or he will lay down beside it.

The thing is he does a bit of rumbling and strutting about which I know is normal (no teeth chattering or anything). But he has started to go upto her face he will rumble and swagger right up to her and then start touching her face with his. She gets cross and shoves him with her head and he happily walk off popcorning. She doesn't seem bothered and goes back to what she was doing (usually munching). I was just a bit worried incase it's not normal and he is getting a bit agressive. There has been no nipping that I am aware of.

The main reason it worries me as if it was two boys I would expect a nip at least if not a scrap as that was how Tiger and George's fights started!

Also george really needs a bath. Can I bath him on his own or is it best to wait a while til Tia's settled in a bit more and do them together?

I'm not too good with boy/girl relationships. For the bath part, I think it would be best if you bathed them together. That way, they can bond and smell the same at the same time:)) However, if George really needs a bath and cannot wait the time it will take for Tia to settle in, then I think you can just bathe him alone. Maybe after Tia settles in, you can bathe them together?

Don't worry, your George is simply TOTALLY smitten and is telling Tia how much he fancies her! My Llewelyn is doing it all the time; getting about the same "no, thank you" from the girls most of the time (apart from his daily cuddle by the two of them)!

It will be easier if you wash them together. Tia would probably feel panicky without George anyway. Just talk to her gently all the time, and she'll be OK. And it is better if they smelt the same! Most people underestimate the importance of the "tribe" smell.

Thanks for the reassurance! Will probably leave him to stink for a couple of weeks and just not let him climb up me! He smells so bad and loves to scale me so he is sat on my shoulder with his bum in my face :)) I'll have to make him sit nicely on my knee instead for a couple of weeks :))

Just wait once Tia has been fully in season and has had a happy day of chasing - she'll be smelling the same, thanks to his attentions!

Remember, in a mixed pairing, it's the girls who call the shots - when they are ready to mate and who with! Boy can do only so much to make himself eligible and getting her to lie down for the mating...
