Hi, i just wondered if anyone else's pigs sleep in the hay rack rather than in the pigloo or cosy provided!

My hay rack is made of a grid and is kind of bend in half and fixed to the side, i am scared stiff one of them is going to get a leg stuck and break it or something. I have now put some newspaper in to provide a bit more warmth and also to stop their legs going through.

Arent they funny little things? Personally i would give anything to snuggle up in their cosy with my hot water bottle right now lol

I guess not huh?

I think i will just have to take the hay rack down and get a fully enclosed one.

Monkeys :p

I don't have a rack as such, but I put hay on the platform in their cage and Lexi always likes to curl up there rather than in their house.
What silly pigs of yours, they sound cute haha. Can see why you'd be worried though.

My hay racks are positioned higher up and they're more enclosed, so piggies can't physically fit inside them.

They do love sleeping in their hay trays though. As well as having fresh hay in their hayracks, I also put hay into plastic cat litter trays (lined with newspaper) and they love that. I put those trays underneath the hayracks, working on the assumption that they're likely to poo there while they're eating from the racks.

Yes, they love sleeping in hay, especially the soft supermarket ones :)) I think an enclosed hayrack is necessary if you have pigs who jump up into it, I would be worried too about getting stuck.

I have removed it, i just couldnt live with myself if they hurt themselves on something i already thought about and didnt act on.

I am now using an upturned fruit basket until i get something permanent!

Thanks for all your input :)
