Hi i was just wondering if i could use puppy pee pads in my piggy cage as I'm trying to reduce the smell of there cage i do a full cage clean every 7 days but i find the smell is quite strong ive heard baking soda is good but can also pose health risks anyone have recommendations

I use puppy pee pad for my Finn and Lara.
Most of the time, my Finn and Lara use their hay pan as their bathroom. This cut down the cleaning time in half not to mention cleaner with less smell because when I clean out their hay pan, bad smell is gone.

I put puppy pee pad under the hay tray to absorb pee, then load hay on top. They use their hay tray bathroom and eat some hay, and every two days I throw away soiled hay and soiled puppy pee pad. I really like how efficient this is so I love it. I do go through a bit more hay but in exchange, I save on water and time, which is more valuable.

I prefer washable absorbant puppy mats as its less waste. We have the Vetfleece brand Inconti-pet mats and do a full cage clean and wash the mats twice a week.

What bedding do you currently use and how big is your cage?
How many piggies do you have?
If you could post a photo of your set up that would be great too.
