Hi
I was debating which bedding to use. Currently use hay and newspaper but the wee isn’t being absorbed-I’ve heard horse beddings are good
Any ideas?😀😀😀

Hay isn’t absorbent at all and newspaper just goes soggy when it gets wet.
If they are indoors, a lot of people use fleece with an absorbent layer underneath or specially made (or you can make them yourself if you are handy with a sewing machine) fleece liners which are layers of fleece with absorbent layers sewn in the middle.
Horse bedding such as aubiose is good. My pigs are in my shed and I use finacard with loads hay on top in winter but in summer I use fleece in their hutch.
Whether you go for disposable such as aubiose or reusable such as fleece depends on personal preference. Fleece is fairly high maintenance as it needs to be changed every 3-4 days and bits of hay can end up in the washing machine but you don’t have the problem of disposing of lots of soiled bedding. Disposable is easier but it’s messy and you need to bin space to be able to get rid of it.

I get mine delivered from my local farm shop and it comes in a large bale (the size of a hay bale). There are a variety of disposable beddings on on Amazon and if you google for suppliers you may be able to find a supplier nearby to you or who can deliver.

To add, finacard still needs a layer of hay on top as the finacard isn’t soft enough for them to walk on

I use puppy pads to line my hutch with and then add a good layer of hay on the top.

Too much hay 1.webp

I use Chipsi, ultra absorbent and practically dust free. I spot clean the corners every day. The poos dry out in no time on this.

I make compost as one of my hobbies 😂
