Just thought i'd leave a basic review for Finacard as i think reviews are always helpful when choosing bedding!

Rating: 4/5

Pros:
Really absorbent.
No odour.
Economical and cheaper then washing fleece.
Very quick to change as a simple scoop out and pour in.
Looks natural and can easily be paired with coloured toys/accessories!
Hasn't caused my sensitive pig, that can't sleep on sawdust without sneezing, any problems at all.

Cons:
Odd shapes and have found a small piece of foam in one bag?
Seems quite noisy when you first put it in the cage. (The pigs do stomp around and it soon stops making any noise)
Quite a large bag to store and very heavy to lift anywhere!

How long does it last?
Cage size 2x4 C&C (Fairly deep/generous bedding) has so far lasted me 3 cleans and enough in the bag for another.

Overall opinion?
I generally really like it and used combined with some nice fleece beds to give the pigs that nice cosy area too, the pigs seem really happy, they choose to sleep on both the bedding and their beds. They took a few nibbles at first but seem to not be keen and i haven't seen them eat any since. They occasionally pick up the odd big piece and move it around but my pigs do seem to think they're interior designers :tu:

I've never heard of Finacard before, so thanks for reviewing for others to see. I am mainly using fleece right now, but I'll see about trying it out :D

After trying probably everything on the market I'm converted to finacard. Although the last bag I had had tiny amounts of paper in it (not really a problem) and a length of plastic bag. If anyone is thinking of using this, I would check it thoroughly before putting piggies in with it. I did tell the company and they said it's not normal for this to happen and offers me no refund

If you have somewhere you can store it, ordering in bulk is cheaper

what does it look like and how much does it cost? @twiams

How big is the bag ? have you used fitch. I use fitch and 1 bag lasts about 1 month cleaning out 5 cages each week. I buy it in bulk too so I get them cheaper x

I agree. Finacard is what I use ands it's by far my favourite. It's easy to use, not too messy (bits are just the right size to pick up), nice for the pigs in terms of being comfy yet natural - they can rummage around for goodies and it's a fair price.

I'd also be interested to know where you get finacard from. Also you said you've tried most things on the market - how does it compare to Aubiose and Easibed in your opinion? It's always interesting to hear people's views so thanks for sharing. I've not tried finacard but I've tried many other things :)

I've not used easibed but to me aubiose is very scratchy.. Finacard is basically shredded cardboard but it's surprisingly soft!

Finacard can be ordered online.I think about fifteen pound for twenty kilos. The same company do a paper litter that I used to use for my rats litter trays although that is more expensive

I use finacard and me and the piggies really like it! I'm currently using a generous layer on top of puppy pads and it works really well. It is pretty bulky to store but very cost effective. I scoop out and replace the corners where my girlies tend to wee and poo, every other day and do a total clean out once a week. There is no odour.
I used to use it with my dear departed Ratties and found it good for odour control for them, and they were proper stinkers! Definitely recommend!

i didn't get on with finacard on it's own so started mixing it with fitch which works really well :)

Here is the link for Finacard if anyone is interested, just scroll right to the bottom and it's £14.50 for 4 full cleans worth in a deep bedded 2x4 C&C cage so about £3.62 a cage clean! :)

Sorry for the delay in reply just moved house!

It literally is just different shaped shreds of cardboard. I've posted a link to the website just above this so you can check it out :)

I'm due a delivery tomorrow so will measure the bag for you. I tried fitch but didn't particularly like it as my pigs would just make nests and push it out to sleep on the corex! As i said 1 bag has lasted me about 4 weeks which i thinks reasonable! :)

I'm using Ecobale at the moment. It's similar to finacard and you can get it from GJW Titmuss for just over £14 a 20Kg bale. I order in bulk direct from Ecobale as that works out cheaper for me though. I really like it as there is no dust, it's easy to handle, not messy, doesn't stick to fleece and gives them something to root around in.
