Hi there,
we got our first guinea at the weekend and will be keeping her indoors, after Reading through a few websites, the wood shavings with some fresh hay in her house didn't seem like a great combo to use in her housing so after cleaning her cage yesterday, we decided to change it to a layer of cardboard on the base, then a layer of 5 sheets of newspaper and then a layer of around an inch or so of fresh hay. In the sheltered part of her house, I also put a new face towel down for an extra bit of comfort.
She seems very happy with this and has been making happy noises whilst she grazes on the hay but she doesn't seem to want to go into her house anymore. She used to spend a fair bit of time in there and used to run in quite a lot too if we went over to her cage to talk etc.
Since changing her cage we haven't seen her go in once!
Any suggestions as to whether we've done something wrong?
Thanks!
