Hi ladies and gents
Currently, my boys have two places to live and play. We have our big run under the coffee table which has tunnels and toys in with LOTS of hay.
Their main cage is filled with shavings. I'm looking for advice on anything else I can use as a I keep hearing shavings areb ad for them.

Well worth having a read of the thread above that @PiggyOwner has quoted

@piggieowner I want to try auboise which I have discovered I can get fairly locally. Do you pop newspaper underneath first so it is easy to clean out or just shove it down?

I use auboise and don’t use paper underneath, just have it about 1 - 2 inches thick. I treat mine like a stable - I don’t throw it all out every week. Their hides are on top of trays which get chucked every 5days (clean stuff and all) and the rest gets turned over, wet patches removed from the bottom and stray poos taken out. Only end up getting rid of 1/3 of the bedding each week. The left over bedding gets put into the trays and ‘dirtier’ areas of the cage so are more likely to get thrown out the next week.

I haven't got auboise yet. I have a double decker hutch and am still thinking about it.

it is great stuff.i use a layer of newspaper or puppypads and place 1 1/2 inches and chuck it all out after a week.this works well at absorbing piggie urine .ive four piggies in a 6 feet hutch ,no smell until cleaning out day.
