My pigs are in a Nero 4 cage. I have two little boars.

I have been using wood-shavings on p&h advice but its horrible. Its constantly covered in poo (which obv you can't get out without changing the entire bedding), it stinks, it all gets shoved up in one corner leaving most of the cage bare ... and its such a faff.

Can someone advice me on vetbed, would this be ok for two boys in a nero 4/indoor cage?

I dont use shavings for any of my pigs now, apart from two boars who wee for England!

I use a layer of newspaper, and a cut-to-size piece of fleece type blankie stuff, you can get this from any fabric shop and mine even have cute patterns and motifs on!

I whip it out and change it for a fresh piece every few days and its easily shaken off and washed.

I use fleece with towel under for my indoor piggies too, works as well as vetbed & much cheaper & the hay's easier to brush off :)

I have recently changed my piggies to vet bed. My piggies seem to love the feel of it and seem so chilled out stretched out on it. As it is also healthier than woodshavings for their breathing I am glad i changed. I had never heard of vet bed until I joined the forum. I remove any soiled hay and droppings daily. I change it 2 or 3 times a week. ...The smaller bits of hay do get stuck in it, but I find a rigorous shake of the bed usually dislodges the debris. A lot of piggy owners seems to use fleece which i understand is cheaper than vet bed so you may want to give this a try.

i use profleece (www.profleece.co.uk) - its basically vet bed but cheaper and nicer - and has more colours.

i layer with newspaper and have a hi bac litter tray with newspaper and aubiose and hayand upstairs has the same.

dont put hay directly on vetbed/profleece, its a bit of a pain. I hoover with a pet hand held hoover morning and at night, and change every friday.

its great!
