Hi everyone,

One of my girls suffers from UTIs on a regular basis, having had a bladder stone 18 months ago. I have some baby boars and one of them has also had an infection recently. I'm wondering if a different type of bedding might help to prevent them. They are currently bedded on puppy pads, newspaper and thick hay and I'm thinking about changing to fleece. Has anyone got any experience of bedding guineas with UTIs and do you think that fleece would be any better?

Thanks :)

I dont really think bedding makes a difference to the number of UTI's piggies have or don't have. Some piggies are just more prone to bladder issues than others I am afraid.

We bed on fleece and I love it.

I think diet has more to do with stones than any bedding issues. However, newspaper is vey absorbent and could harbour bacteria I guess. I use fleece top of puppy pads. I change pee pads daily and the full fleece every 3 day’s maximum. Wash at 60 degrees and all bacteria is killed off as far as I’m aware. I love my fleece.
