managed to get some corn silks for the girls.

Cant decide if Fudge adores them.. Or just cant taste them due to eating so fast!

It was Lidl's! Was one up in East kilbride, need to check my local one but i know they never used to sell them.

Its a 2 pack, i made the corn with pulled pork for dinner last night and the girls had the silks as they already had babycorn in the fridge.

Everybody wins!

I've never seen them anywhere. I'll be in EK in a couple days for work I'm gonna have a look :P

If you can vouch for corn silks I will try my girlies with some, too. If it's good enough for you, Fudge, it's good enough for my girls.
 
Fudge just has the best facial expressions! Such a pretty girl
 
She was doing an impression of Beans (or is it toast) towards the end with an unladylike mouth full of silk plus greens.

Beautiful girl - corn husks and silk (as well as the yummy corn inside) is such a treat!

my lot :love: looooooove cornsilks, i have a lot of maize grown near me so i pull off the cornsilks of a few cobs when i'm out walking the dog. they pretty much stuff the whole lot in from one cob in at a time!
they also like it dried, it lasts for a few weeks after the maize has been harvested & gone, they still get there treat, they love the leaves & cobs too.

PS pssst Fudge'y cornsilks i believe are also a mild diuretec & beneficial with urinary problems/cystitus :D
sounds like a healthy treat :tu: .... the corns are also good for putting on weight if needed too.

Try your local market. I've been getting corn on the cob from ours for a few weeks now. And if you do, ask to see if you can have any leftover leaves. If I buy 2 corns I can have a huge bag of leaves for free. I freeze some for over winter.

Do u freeze the leaves as well as the corns?
I've always dried the leaves. Never thought about freezing them- its probably more tasty than drying too :)
How do u prepare them or just bag up &pop it in?
 
Yep, I freeze the leaves. If you can wrap them up nice and tight in a plastic bag to keep out any ice or water they tend to keep okay. They aren't as green when they're thawed out, but they're still okay.
